Pastor Matt serves as the Revitalization Pastor with a deep passion for preaching the Word of God, shepherding people well, and seeing churches renewed for God’s glory. He has served in pastoral ministry for over 16 years and holds an undergraduate degree, a Master of Divinity in Church Leadership, and a Doctor of Ministry in Church Revitalization from Liberty University. His heart for ministry is centered on helping individuals grow as disciples of Jesus and guiding churches to become healthy, gospel-focused, and outward-looking communities that love God and love their neighbors.
Pastor Matt is married to his wife, Brittany, and together they have three daughters; Mirabella, Breya, and Elora. Family is a central part of his life and ministry, and he often draws from family experiences as meaningful illustrations of God’s faithfulness. Outside of ministry, the Coyne family loves traveling together and is on a long-term goal to visit all 63 U.S. National Parks. The Coyne family is blessed to be part of HBC they look forward to building relationships, hearing people’s stories, and walking together as God continues His work in and through the church.

Denise's experience and education is in both Music and Business. She has dedicated her work in both fields to the glory of the Lord! Denise has served in the Music and Worship Ministry for over 30 years in Georgia, Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina. Denise made her home in Western North Carolina in 1994. She loves encouraging God's people to use the gifts and talents which He has blessed them with to serve the Lord and to serve others. She believes there is no higher calling than to be a servant of God and to love and encourage His children. If you know Denise, you know that she dearly loves her family! She lives in Waynesville with her husband, Alan, and has two grown sons, David, and daughter-in-love Brittany, and Daniel, and daughter-in-love Kristen, whom also serve the Lord in ministry, and four precious grandchildren, Darcy, Liam, James, and Joseph.

Regina has been a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church since 1951 and has been the church secretary for over 30 years. She always has a smile on her face! Her dedication and years of service exemplifies her love not only to Hazelwood, but to the Lord! Regina is a native of Haywood County and lives in Waynesville. She has three grown children, Kevin and Philip Cable and Angela Gryder and seven grandchildren.
